What are the conditions for qualified contactors?
2024-09-20

In the capacitor compensation system, because the capacitor is often automatically switched, it is necessary to use the contactor as the frequent operation of the circuit breaker. So, what technical requirements do qualified contactors need to meet?

The operating voltage and release voltage of the contactor should meet the technical requirements, and the operating voltage of the contactor should not be lower than 80% of the rated voltage of the coil, and the release voltage should not be lower than 70% of the rated voltage of the coil.

  Operating frequency

The higher the operating frequency of the permanent magnet contactor, the more times it is opened and closed per hour, and the heavier the work task of the contact and arc extinguishing chamber. Operating frequency directly affects the electrical life of the contactor and the working conditions of the arc extinguishing chamber, the conventional contactor operating frequency is mainly 150 times per hour, 300 times, 600 times and 1200 times and other specifications.

  Mechanical and electrical life

The service life of the contactor refers to the number of limit operations under the specified operating conditions. The operation frequency of the contactor is high, so it must have a long mechanical life, and the current mechanical life of the contactor can basically reach millions or even 10 million times.

  Action time, release time

The action time is the time it takes the electromagnet to attract the coil until the armature is fully engaged, and the release time is the time from the power off to the armature is fully opened. For reliable control of the line, the action time is generally required to be within 0.04~0.11s, and the release time is within 0.04~0.12s.

  Switching capability

Contactor is mainly through frequent switching control line function, contactor to have reliable on-off ability, under the specified conditions can be reliably on, off the current, and does not produce welding, flaring, excessive wear and other phenomena.
